공터 Empty Space

서울의 버려진 <공터/Empty Space 2012>와 <지하도/Underground 2013>에서 초연된 두 연극은 기본적으로 동일한 서사 구조를 기반으로 한다. 연극의 등장인물들은 우연히 도시의 버려지고 고립된 장소에 갇히게 되고, 그곳에서 무의식 속에 숨겨져 있던 과거의 기억과 마주하게 된다.
우리는 버려진 공간에 축적된 시간성과 숨겨진 기억이 드러나는 방식에 주목하여, 개인의 기억과 도시 공간이 일종의 무의식적 은유로 연결되어 있다는 가정에서 출발했다.
공공장소에 연극적 개입을 통해 공연의 공간 개념을 확장하고 일상의 공간에 서사적 균열을 일으키는 시도를 했다.

Two theater works premiered in abandoned urban sites in Seoul, Empty Space (2012) and Underground (2013), share the same underlying narrative structure. In both works, the characters become accidentally trapped in isolated and neglected areas of the city, where they are confronted with memories from the past that had remained buried in their unconscious.
Starting from the idea that abandoned spaces accumulate layers of time and hidden memories, the works explore a connection between personal memory and urban space as a form of unconscious metaphor. Through theatrical interventions in public sites, the performances expand the conventional notion of theatrical space and introduce narrative ruptures into everyday environments.
